Tax Assessment Thresholds for Business-to-Consumer (B2C) shipments

As of 1 May 2022, Turkiye has implemented changes to reduce the tax assessment threshold and amend the tax percentage applied on imported goods from non-EU member state countries.

For all B2C sending, with a declared value between 0 - 150 EUR, a 30% tax will apply. For all sending with a declared value above 150 EUR, the applied tax will be dependent on the articles' HS Codes.

Please note, all sending with a declared value above 150 EUR must also be accompanied by a formal confirmation from the importer of Record to proceed with customs clearance, and customs clearance charges may apply.

For all B2B sending, with a value between 0 - 22 EUR an 30% tax will apply. For all sending with a value above 22 EUR, the applied tax will be dependent on the articles' HS Codes.

Books and other similar printed publications below 1500 Euros will be exempt from Import VAT (Value Added Tax).

Restrictions and conditions can change at short notice so the information on this page should be used as a guide only. For the latest information, you should check the UPU prohibitions & restrictions (PDF 3.2MB) or contact the destination country's customs, postal trade or government authority.

It's also your responsibility to check if the destination country imposes any duties, taxes, brokerage fees or any other fees on the item you're sending. If you're unsure, please contact the consulate office of the destination country.

Special documentation

Please ensure that you provide a comprehensive goods declaration. Senders MUST provide, sender’s details, receiver’s details (including receiver’s phone numbers and e-mail address), accurate goods descriptions, HS Tariff Codes, itemised values, and country of origin.

Commercial goods require an inserted invoice. Mark the outside of the article facture inseree. Dutiable goods exceeding 50 Turkish pounds require a certificate of origin endorsed by a Turkish consul. Used clothing, bedding, carpets, sacks and so on, require a certificate of disinfection.

If shipment can be cleared on behalf of receiver, they will be required to provide paperwork relating to the customs clearance process such as proof of payment, ID/Passport information, power of attorney, prescription, vehicle registration, etc.

If the shipment is subject to formal customs clearance due to Turkish Custom Laws, the shipment must be cleared from Turkish Customs by the receiver/receiver’s broker. The sender is unable to assist.

If the shipment is subject to formal customs clearance due to Turkish Custom Laws, the receiver/receiver’s broker will be required to provide paperwork relating to the customs clearance process.

The correct declaration of value, piece and weight information on waybill is crucial.

The formal clearance period is 20 days from arrival. After this time, shipments are subject to confiscation. The sender and receiver details must be addressed with a valid street address in English. A Post Office Box address is not acceptable.

The sender is responsible for finding if the destination country may impose duties, taxes, brokerage fees or any other fees that may be applied on the item that is being sent.
