Look good, feel good, do good with artisan fashion from Ecuador

The Artisan Project blends traditional Ecuadorian craftsmanship for style with a social conscience.

Who’s this? The Artisan Project

What’s it all about? Fashion, shoes and accessories handcrafted by artisans in Ecuador. Although drawing on traditional crafts, the collection is injected with a modern sensibility.

Anything else we should know?  This is a brand motivated by a social conscience, seeking to give gifted artisans in the developing country access to a global market so they can make a crust. The Artisan Project is all about cutting out the middleman and dealing directly with the makers. The team also help the creators of the pieces collaborate, innovate and grow.

So how did it all come to be?  Like many things, it started with a coffee between four friends who figured that by encouraging entrepreneurship among artisans, they had the power to create social change. Although based in Australia, the four also saw a chance to share their vibrant Ecuadorian culture with the world.

5 REASONS TO LOVE: The Artisan Project

  3. Because you know the talented makers earn a fair price for their skills
  4. This stuff is seriously unique—not the usual fashion you find everywhere
  5. Did we mention that you can shop AND help others?
