Import restrictions
If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.
We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:
- Bees
- Cotton products, raw
- Feathers

- Insects, live
- Knives with spring blades
- Meat or meat products

Customs duty
Micronesia admits the following items duty-free:
- Any item, not for resale, to a value of $US10, except tobacco products and perfumes containing alcohol
- Atlases and charts
- Books
- Engravings, etchings, lithographs
- Gifts to a value of $US25
- Maps
- Music in books or sheets
- Newspapers and periodicals
- Photographs
- Printed matter issued by literary or scientific institutions
- Woodcuts and pictorial matter produced by relief or stencil printing process more than 20 years before importation

Special documentation
In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.
Consular invoice
Articles that exceed a value of $US or ECI require a consular invoice endorsed by a united states of america consul. The article must bear the words invoice enclosed.
Country of origin
A conspicuous and indelible stamp or brand of the country of origin (in English) must appear on all commercial items (except books addressed to a library), their containers and packaging.

Due to heightened border protection and increased aviation security measures introduced by the US Government applying to inbound freight, there is likely to be delays of around 48 hours to parcels being sent to the US. These new security measures have increased cost implications associated with screening and transport, and as a result a $9 surcharge will be imposed on all parcels over 500g (16 ounces) destined for the US.
This surcharge has been introduced solely to cover the costs of the revised security arrangements required by the United States, and Australia Post does not profit from the surcharge.
