An update on our pre-departure customs clearance process
From 1 March 2023, there is an additional change to pre-departure customs clearance process due to European Union Import Control System (EU ICS2).
Prohibitions
The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.
To check which items are considered dangerous and prohibited for sending from Australia, download our Prohibited and Restricted item list and packaging guide (1.1MB).
- Arms, parts and accessories thereof, including prohibited and controlled arms (subject to a licence), over-the-counter weapons and their accessories and ammunition.
- Any nicotine-containing or nicotine-free liquid, as well as any substance intended for use in an electronic cigarette or that can be used for refilling an electronic cigarette.
- Bearer bonds
- Chain letters
- Colouring matter
- Electronic cigarettes sold to consumers.
- Empty ink cartridges
- Empty laser toner cartridges
- Inorganic chemicals
- Lottery tickets and advertising
- Live Animals and Animal Products
- Photograph and films, indecent.
- Photographic or cinematographic goods
- Printed books, newspapers
- Products mixed by the user (“mix your own”-type products), base liquids (PG, VG), booster liquids and flavours (concentrated or not) when sold in the context of e-cigarette sales.
- Tanning or dyeing extracts
- Vegetable Products
Import restrictions
If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.
We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:
- Animal products
- Electrical equipment or parts
- Hides and skins, raw
- Mechanical appliances
- Plastic wrapped magazines (free), commercial mailings and catalogues (Walloon region only)
- Sports requisites
- Textiles and textile articles
- Toys and games
- Vegetables and vegetable products
- Weapons
- Wood and wooden articles.

As the sender, it's your responsibility to make sure your items don't break any laws or rules – both within Australia and in the destination country.

Special documentation
In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.
Commercial goods must include an invoice. Senders should contact Belgium authorities for further information.

- International Express and International Standard (both carried via the EMS network) - Parcels deliver to all destinations
International Express and International Standard - Parcels does deliver to a Post Office Box but not to Poste Restante.
- International Express - Letters guaranteed service is not available from Perth
