Prohibitions

The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

  • Alcohol products, ethyl alcohol, beer
  • Any weapons or ammunition or parts thereof, or articles similar in construction to civilian or service weapons
  • Cultural artefacts (addressed to, and intended for the personal use of, private individuals)
  • Eggs, raw
  • Electronic and high-frequency machines
  • Explosive goods, or explosive or ignition devices
  • Hazardous waste
  • Honey and honeycomb
  • Narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as plants and mushrooms containing narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors, of any kind and in any form, including their fruits, seeds and spores
  • Pathogenic or potentially pathogenic organisms
  • Perishable products
  • Precious stones of any kind or natural diamonds, except for jewellery
  • Substances harmful to the ozone layer
  • Tobacco, Tobacco products and smoking mixtures of all kinds
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (including drones, copters), except aircraft used for entertainment without any recording equipment (including photo and video) and no automatic flight capability
  • Other articles prohibited as exports under the UPU Acts

Belarus Post does not accept ordinary and registered letters containing articles subject to customs duty.

Lithium batteries

Lithium batteries and devices containing them are prohibited from being sent via International Express.

Import restrictions

If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.

We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:

  • Animal products
  • Bees
  • Bullion and currency
  • Dairy products
  • Fish products
  • Fruit
  • Leeches
  • Medicines
  • Plants and plant products
  • Silkworms
  • Stamps
  • Vegetables
  • Weapons, hunting
  • Weapons and parts

For international postal items addressed to individuals, if the value of the goods contained in a single postal item exceeds 200 euros (EUR), customs duties will be charged to the recipient at the time of delivery.

Customs duties and taxes will be levied at the rate of 15% of the value of the goods, but not less than 2 EUR per 1 kg of weight, applied to the excess of value and/or weight limits.

As the sender, it's your responsibility to make sure your items don't break any laws or rules – both within Australia and in the destination country.

Special documentation

In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.

Commercial goods must include an invoice.

Inherited goods require a certificate, endorsed by a consul, which confirms the right of inheritance.

If you're sending International Express items to Belarus, you'll need to complete a letter of indemnity.
