General disruptions and updates

European Union (EU)

1 July 2026: As arrangements continue to be worked through and finalised to support the new EU regulatory requirements and customs changes taking effect from 1 July 2026, all sending to and from the 27 EU member states may be delayed. 

EU, Canada and UK postal services updates 

11 June 2026: From 1 July 2026, new customs regulations and import Value Added Tax (VAT) changes apply when sending parcels to the European Union (EU), as well as updates on how to process import duties, taxes and fees for postal services to Canada and the United Kingdom. 

Items that exceed the duty-free threshold for these countries will incur costs to be remitted to the relevant overseas customs authorities. Zonos® will support the calculation, collection and remittance of these costs. 

United Kingdom

6 March 2026: Items sent to and from the UK may be delayed due to limited capacity on available flights and increased volumes following recent airline service suspensions. We are working closely with our airline partners to manage volumes and minimise impacts.

Middle East

2 March 2026: Due to the current situation affecting airspace in the Middle East region, all services to and from the region may experience delays. There may also be delays and disruptions to services to and from other destinations, including Europe, as some airports in the Middle East operate as airline transit hubs. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on our website, as further information becomes available.

Update: Please note that airlines have cancelled services for the following destinations. These destinations will be suspended temporarily, until further notice.

US postal services updates

24 February 2026 

The United States (US) has introduced new tariffs on imported goods effective 24 February 2026. A 10% global import surcharge will now apply to all items sent to the US, regardless of Country of Origin.

All postal services have resumed for all personal and business customers sending to the US and its Overseas Territories, except for 'International Courier' branded services, which remain temporarily unavailable

Country specific disruptions and updates

Democratic Republic of Congo
18 March 2025: Items sent to and from the Democratic Republic of Congo may experience significant delays as conflict in the region has severely disrupted postal operations and delivery services.

Morocco
8 July 2026: Express service items sent to and from Morocco may be delayed due to data issues affecting customs clearance and delivery times.

Sudan
Australia Post has temporarily suspended all postal services to and from Sudan due to civil unrest.

There are no other current updates for Africa.

Cambodia
15 December 2025: Items sent to and from Cambodia, particularly in areas close to the border between Cambodia and Thailand, may be delayed due to the ongoing situation along the border. Postal operations and delivery services have been impacted, including temporary post office closures in affected areas.

China
13 July 2026: Items sent to and from China may be delayed due to adverse weather conditions in the south eastern coastal areas as a result of Typhoon Bavi. This may impact postal operations and delivery services.

29 October 2025: Items sent to China now require further information as part of their customs clearance process. Items that do not meet these customs requirements may experience significant delays at China Customs. See the requirements for sending to China.

East Timor
24 November 2025: Items sent to and from East Timor may be delayed due to flight cancellations caused by adverse weather along the route.

India
From May 2024, India customs has imposed a Know Your Customer (KYC) legal requirement, which mandates that government-recognised identity and address proof must be presented to customs during shipment clearance for items sent via International Courier to India. To avoid customs delays and for a smooth clearance process, ensure you inform your recipient to complete the KYC process with the customs authority. Nepal
15 September 2025: Items sent to and from Nepal may experience delays as Nepal Post works to return to full capacity following protests on 7-8 September which impacted postal operations and delivery services.

Philippines
10 November 2025: Items sent to and from the Philippines may experience delays as a result of Typhoon Fung-wong, which has impacted postal operations and delivery services.

South Korea
23 June 2025: Items sent to and from South Korea may experience delays due to a scheduled system update that could impact postal operations and delivery services.

Sri Lanka
2 December 2025: Items sent to and from Sri Lanka are expected to experience significant delays due to extreme weather conditions caused by a cyclone. Postal operations and delivery services have been severely impacted with partial suspensions across the entire country.

Thailand
18 December 2025: From 1 January 2026, all goods sent by post to Thailand valued over 1 THB will be subject to duties and taxes. This means:

  • The previous exemption for items up to 1,500 THB will no longer apply
  • Goods under 1 THB and documents remain duty-free
  • Duties, taxes and postal processing fees will be paid by the recipient, not the sender
  • The recipient will need to pay the applicable customs duties, taxes and postal processing fees either via a QR code or by cash

Belgium
16 June 2026: Items sent to and from Brussels and southern Belgium may be delayed due to industrial action in the region impacting postal operations and delivery services. 

11 May 2026: Items sent to and from Belgium may be delayed due to union strike action commencing on 12 May 2026, which may impact postal operations and delivery services.

27 April 2026: Reminder from Belgium’s Postal Operator, bpost, to be wary of potential fraudulent communications. All official electronic communications issued by bpost are sent solely from email addresses using the domain names “bpost.be” or “bnode.com”. 

31 March 2026: Items sent to and from Belgium may be delayed due to local industrial actions being held in Brussels and parts of southern Belgium, which may impact postal operations and delivery services across the country.

8 March 2026: Items sent to and from Belgium may be delayed as a result of planned union strikes, which may impact postal operations and delivery services.

Canary Islands
17 March 2026: Items sent to and from the Canary Islands may be delayed due to the implementation of a new system and internal software changes by Spain’s postal operator, Correos, which has impacted postal operations and delivery services.

Denmark
1 July 2026: As arrangements are finalised to support new EU regulatory requirements taking effect from 1 July 2026, the following services for Denmark have been impacted:

  • All Business sending is suspended.
  • Personal sending at the Post Office will be limited to ONLY genuine gifts between private individuals (C2C) valued under EUR45 for all services.
  • Sending letters over the counter is not impacted.

Italy
8 July 2026: Items sent to and from Italy may be delayed due to union strike action that commenced on 7 July 2026. This may impact postal operations and delivery services.

1 January 2026: Items sent to and from Italy may experience delays as a result of new customs processes and duty requirements that were introduced on 1 January 2026, which has impacted postal operations and customs clearance in Italy. See the requirements for sending to Italy.  

Kosovo
5 June 2026: Services to Kosovo are temporarily suspended due to an internal IT issue. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause while we investigate and resolve this matter.

Netherlands
7 January 2026: Items to and from the Netherlands may experience delays as a result of heavy snowfall and severe weather conditions which has disruption postal operations and delivery services.

Norway
1 September 2025: Items sent to and from Norway may experience delays as a result of landslides near Levanger, which has impacted postal operations and delivery services.

Poland
25 September 2025: Items sent to and from Poland, particularly Warsaw, may experience delays due to airport and ground handling operational changes, which may impact postal operations and delivery services.

Russia
Australia Post has temporarily suspended all postal services to and from the Russian Federation.

The temporary suspension will remain in place until Australia Post can ensure compliance with all relevant sanctions requirements, and is subject to the availability of transport to and from Russia.

Switzerland
10 June 2026: Items sent to and from Geneva and Lausanne may be delayed due to the G7 summit from 15-17 June 2026. This may impact postal operations and delivery services in the region between 10–19 June 2026.

Ukraine
There may be delays to letters and parcels sent to and from the Ukraine due to:

  • limited airline capacity
  • some postcodes being currently inaccessible
  • planned power outages

United Kingdom
6 March 2026: Items sent to and from the UK may be delayed due to limited capacity on available flights and increased volumes following recent airline service suspensions. We are working closely with our airline partners to manage volumes and minimise impacts.

There are no other current updates for Europe.

Iran
27 January 2026: Items sent from Iran may experience delays due to an internet outage which is affecting postal operations. 

14 October 2024: Due to limited flight capacity, there are temporary service suspensions in place for items sent to Iran. Service suspensions will remain in place until we can guarantee availability of transport. Customers who have sent items to Iran may have their items returned. We apologise for any inconvenience and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Israel
17 July 2026: Items sent to and from Israel may be significantly delayed as Israel has declared an extended state of emergency and Israel Post is operating under certain restrictions.

Middle East
2 March 2026: Due to the current situation affecting airspace in the Middle East region, all services to and from the region may experience delays. There may also be delays and disruptions to services to and from other destinations, including Europe, as some airports in the Middle East operate as airline transit hubs. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on our website, as further information becomes available.

United States
24 February 2026: The US administration recently announced new tariff arrangements for goods sent to the US.

26 January 2026: Items sent to and from the US may be delayed due to extreme adverse weather conditions caused by Winter Storm Fern, which has significantly impacted postal operations and delivery services.

There are no other current updates for North America.

Chile
18 March 2026: Items sent to and from Chile may be delayed as Chile works to clear the backlog of items pending customs evaluations due to new national customs regulations. 

Jamaica
21 November 2025: Items sent to and from Jamaica may be delayed due to the ongoing recovery following Hurricane Melissa, which has affected postal operations, transportation and delivery services across parts of the country. 

Peru
From May 2023, due to compliance issues with national legislation governing items into Peru, SERPOST is only accepting items transported by air. Sea Mail will be suspended until further notice.

Venezuela
9 July 2026: Items sent to and from Venezuela may be delayed due to the natural disaster that occurred on 24 June 2026.

30 March 2026: Items sent to and from Venezuela may be delayed due to the public holiday period from Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April 2026, which has impacted postal operations and delivery services across the country.

There are no other current updates for Central/South America.

New Caledonia
11 March 2026: Items sent to and from New Caledonia may be delayed due to general strike action which commenced in New Caledonia on 9 March 2026. This has impacted delivery services.

New Zealand
24 April 2026: Items sent to and from New Zealand may be delayed due to adverse weather conditions, torrential rains and flooding affecting parts of the Greater Wellington and Wairarapa regions.

Papua New Guinea

9 June 2026: Items sent to Papua New Guinea may be delayed due to technical issues at the destination country.
