Domestic delivery disruptions and service updates

There may be some delivery delays in Central and North Queensland, including Mackay, Rockhampton, and the Cairns region west to the Gulf of Carpentaria, following ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji and ongoing heavy rains and flooding.

Bushfires across Victoria are expected to impact our mail and parcel networks and result in delivery delays. Current impacts are in the areas surrounding the Walwa/Longwood, Dargo and Otway fires. Please note that, given the nature of bushfires, affected areas are subject to change at any time. 

The safety of our people and the community is our priority and we’re working with local teams to monitor the situation. Australia Post may pause our operations and re-commence when it is safe to do so.

A train was derailed late on Tuesday 6 January near Port Augusta in South Australia, with the east-west rail line expected to be out of service for several days. Road transport is now in place for any new items lodged from Wednesday 7 January, travelling to and from Perth and Darwin, and from Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

Our team is working to retrieve any delayed items and transfer them to road transport, however, there may be some delays for items in transit.

We’ve contacted senders where possible to advise them of the delay. If you sent a parcel and haven’t heard from us, call 13 76 78. If you were expecting to receive a parcel, contact the sender first as they should have options if your parcel can’t be delivered.
