Important customs changes
From 1 August 2021, additional customs requirements apply when sending to Indonesia.
Prohibitions
The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

- Animals, live
- Chain letters
- Inorganic chemicals
- Live animals
- Organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals
- Obscene or immoral publications
- Pirated books
- Photographic or cinematographic goods
- Printed books and materials- offensive by nature
- Publications harmful to young people
- Used clothing
Recording video cassettes and laser disks are prohibited under International Courier, International Express.
Transporting food of any kind, cash and perfumes are prohibited under International Courier.
Batteries
All types of batteries and devices containing them (e.g. laptops, mobile phones, wireless headphones and equivalent, power banks, tablets, etc.) are prohibited from being sent via International Courier.
Medications
All types of medications are prohibited from being sent via International Courier:
- Non doctor prescribed e.g. Panadol
- Pharmacy only e.g. labelled with pharmacy and recipient name
- Doctor prescribed e.g. asthma puffer, insulin tablets/needle, heart medications
- Controlled/illegal e.g. Morphine, Methadone, Hemp Seed Oil, Cannabinoids
Import restrictions
If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.
We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:
- Animals and animal products
- Anti-parasite products
- Apparel and apparel accessories - threshold per international postal item: 5pcs
- Bags - threshold per international postal item: 2pcs
- Books, brochures, and printed matter
- Cement clinker and cement - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Ceramics - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Cosmetics and household health products - threshold per international postal item: 20 pcs
- Dangerous goods; combustible or hazardous materials
- Downstream plastics - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Electronic goods (e.g. cell phones, handheld computers, and tablet computers) - threshold per international postal item: 2 pcs
- Food and beverages - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD (BPOM1 max 5 kg)
- Food and drink (BPOM1 max 5 kg) - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Footwear (all types) - threshold per international postal item: 2 pcs
- Forestry products - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Glass - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Iron or steel (and their derivatives) - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Narcotics
- Pearls - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Pharmaceutical products
- Plants and parts of plants
- Printed material in Indonesian languages or dialects
- Printed material in Chinese or written in Chinese characters
- Records, cassettes, and videos
- Telecommunication equipment
- Textiles and textile products - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Other finished textile goods - threshold per international postal item: 5pcs
- Toys - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Traditional medicines and health supplements (BPOM1 max 5 pieces per type) - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Two-wheeled and three-wheeled bicycles - threshold per international postal item: 2 pcs
- Tyres - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD
- Used goods - threshold per international postal item: max 1,500 USD

As the sender, it's your responsibility to make sure your items don't break any laws or rules – both within Australia and in the destination country.

It's also your responsibility to check if the destination country imposes any duties, taxes, brokerage fees or any other fees on the item you're sending. If you're unsure, please contact the consulate office of the destination country.
Special documentation
In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.
Commercial goods require a copy of invoice with number and date of import permit.
Gift parcels and all associated documentation bear the words gift parcel for the personal use of the addressee.

International Express - Parcels does not deliver to a Post Office Box but does deliver to Poste Restante. - International Courier

Shipments must be lodged at the counter at a participating Post Office (PDF 832kB) by the cut-off time, which may vary by outlet. Please fill out the online CN23 customs form prior to visiting the outlet.
International Courier does not deliver to a Post Office Box or Poste Restante.
