An update on our pre-departure customs clearance process

From 1 March 2023, there is an additional change to pre-departure customs clearance process due to European Union Import Control System (EU ICS2).

Prohibitions

The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

  • Animals and other products
  • Arms and ammunition; parts and accessories thereof
  • Cotton
  • Counterfeit stamps and goods
  • Coins
  • Dairy, birds eggs and natural honey
  • False trade marks
  • Foodstuffs, prepared
  • Gambling machines
  • Immoral material
  • Imports originating in Turkey
  • Imitation jewellery
  • Leather and skins
  • Leeches and silkworms
  • Live trees and other plants
  • Natural or cultured pearls
  • Ornaments or pieces resembling coins
  • Oil, seeds, grains and fruits
  • Printed articles, books, newspapers- offensive by nature
  • Precious stones and metals
  • Reproductions of bank notes or designs resembling them
  • Resins and other vegetable saps and extracts
  • Salt
  • Toys resembling firearms.

Import restrictions

If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.

We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:

As the sender, it's your responsibility to make sure your items don't break any laws or rules – both within Australia and in the destination country.

Special documentation

In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.

Cyprus admits drugs and medicines only with a permit from the Health Ministry.

Cyprus admits bees only under licence from the Ministry of Agriculture.

An invoice, in an unsealed envelope firmly attached to the outside of postal items, must accompany all commercial shipments.
