Posties across Australia face an average of nine dog related incidents every day, with more than 1,200 reported in just six months.

People can often overlook the risks associated for our team members who are out delivering in their community. A simple process that can quickly escalate if a dog isn’t restrained. This week, we launched our dog safety campaign to raise awareness of the risks Posties face and encourage everyone to share the message.

Most incidents happen when dogs are not properly secured. Dog owners can help prevent this by following our PAWS for Delivery steps:

1. Sit - As your Postie approaches, place your dog somewhere safe and contained
2. Stay - Make sure your dog stays there during delivery
3. Secure - Keep your dog behind a door or gate until your Postie has left

If securing your dog isn’t possible, consider using a Parcel Locker. It is free, convenient and available 24/7.

We’re doing a lot to protect our Posties, but prevention starts with the community. Help us spread the message to keep Posties safe on every delivery.
