Every day, our vehicles connect Australians, businesses and communities across the country. Today, we marked another step towards making that work more sustainable.
I was pleased to join the Hon. Anika Wells to mark the Federal Government funding that will help Australia Post accelerate the next stage of our electric vehicle journey, supporting more electric trucks and vans across our network and the charging infrastructure needed to keep them moving.
We’ve been investing in electric vehicles for more than a decade and now operate more than 5,100 EVs across Australia, travelling over 29 million kilometres each year. This investment gives us the opportunity to build on that progress and expand electrification beyond last-mile delivery into the heavier vehicles that move parcels and freight across our network, while reducing our reliance on diesel.
We’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver the reliable service customers expect. This funding will help us do both.
Thank you to Minister Wells and the Federal Government for partnering with us on this important step. I’m looking forward to seeing what we achieve as we continue building a more sustainable delivery network for Australia.
