Today marks an important milestone for two iconic Australian organisations. Australia Post and Qantas have renewed our partnership for another 10 years, while also commencing freight operations at Western Sydney International Airport.
Australia Post and Qantas have been working together to connect Australians by air since 1922, when Qantas carried 106 letters on its inaugural commercial flight in Queensland. More than a century later, we're continuing that tradition, helping communities stay connected and businesses reach customers across the country.
The way Australia works, shops and connects is changing, and we're investing in partnerships and our network to support Australia's future. Western Sydney International's new 24-hour cargo operations will strengthen the speed, resilience and flexibility of our freight network, helping us move parcels and freight more efficiently around the clock.
This partnership is about powering the growth of eCommerce for Australian retailers and businesses, connecting communities and ensuring we have the capacity to meet the growing demand for faster delivery services in the years ahead.
My thanks to the teams across Australia Post and Qantas who have helped bring this next chapter to life. Together, we're building a stronger network for the future.
