Last night Australia Post's Smart Circular Satchel was recognised at the Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design Awards, when we were awarded the Sustainable Packaging Design award.

Developed as part Australia Post's National Circular Textiles Pilot, the Smart Circular Satchel was designed to explore a simple but important challenge: how we can make it easier for Australians to participate in the circular economy.

In what was an Australian first, the satchel was in made from 100% recycled Australian household soft plastics and manufactured locally and helped customers return unwanted clothing for recycling using a process that's familiar, convenient and easy to access.

More broadly, it demonstrates how Australia Post can leverage its existing network, products and partnerships to support circular economy outcomes at scale and help keep valuable materials in circulation for longer.

Thank you to the many Australia Post teams and industry partners whose creativity, collaboration and commitment helped that turn an idea into a practical solution.

Building a more sustainable future requires innovation that's practical, scalable and accessible. It's encouraging to see that work recognised, and we're excited to continue exploring the role Australia Post can play in enabling a more circular economy.
