An update on our pre-departure customs clearance process
From 1 March 2023, there is an additional change to pre-departure customs clearance process due to European Union Import Control System (EU ICS2).
Prohibitions
The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

- Alcoholic beverages
- Animals, live
- Organic chemicals
- Printed books, newspapers and pictures- offensive by nature
- Payment instruments
- Pearls, precious stones and metals
- Seeds
- Securities of any kind payable to bearer, etc
- Wood and articles of wood
- Vegetables
Import restrictions
If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.
We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:
Sweden requires an import permit for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Senders should determine import restrictions from Swedish authorities before posting:
- Alcohol and spirits
- Animal and animal products
- Pharmaceutical products
- Plants and plant products
- Plastic and rubber products
- Strong beer
- Weapons
- Wood and wood products

Delivery locations & exclusions data (Personal)
- International Express (carried via the EMS network) deliver to all cities and towns
International Express - Parcels has delayed delivery to rural destinations, which might be by local Registered or Express services.
International Express - Parcels are unable to be delivered to a Post Office Box or Poste Restante. The sender and receiver phone number are mandatory for these items using International Express service.
- Valuables payable to bearer
Sweden admits valuables payable to bearer only if addressed to a bank acting as intermediary for Riksbank.
