Prohibitions

The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

  • Batteries
  • Cash
  • Live animals
  • Mobile phones
  • Pearls, precious stones and metals
  • Tobacco

Perfume is prohibited under International Express.

Ordinary Letters

Mali does not accept ordinary letters containing articles subject to customs duty.

Batteries

All types of batteries and devices containing them (e.g. laptops, mobile phones, wireless headphones and equivalent, power banks, tablets, etc.) are prohibited from being sent via International Express.

Medications

All types of medications are prohibited from being sent via International Express:

  • Non doctor prescribed e.g. Panadol
  • Pharmacy only e.g. labelled with pharmacy and recipient name
  • Doctor prescribed e.g. asthma puffer, insulin tablets/needle, heart medications
  • Controlled/illegal e.g. Morphine, Methadone, Hemp Seed Oil, Cannabinoids

Import restrictions

If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.

We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:

Mali requires an import permit for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Senders should determine import restrictions from Mali authorities before posting:

  • Animal and animal products
  • Personal items
  • Pearls
  • Precious metals
  • Tobacco
  • War materials
  • Weapons

Generally, Mali admits items of low value free of import duty and taxes but may subject them to a lump sum levy.

  • Air Mail and Sea Mail destinations for Parcels
    The Air Mail and Sea Mail services for Parcels are available only to full-service post offices.
  • International Registered Post
    Mali pays compensation only in case of loss, total theft or total destruction of the article.
