The following items are prohibited from importation, meaning they won't be allowed to enter the destination country, territory or region.

  • Firearms
  • Lottery tickets
  • Meat and edible Meat Offal

Senders should contact Egyptian authorities regarding any further inquiries on prohibited items.

Import restrictions

If an item is subject to import restrictions, it means that provisions must be met before it will be released from customs in the destination country, territory or region.

We recommend you confirm import restrictions with local authorities before posting:

  • Alcohol
  • Animal products
  • Bees, parasites and silkworms
  • Chemical products
  • Carpets
  • Electronic payment cards (must bear the name of the recipient and be delivered to the recipient in person)
  • Fish of all kinds
  • Firearms and firearm parts
  • Plants and parts of plants
  • Soap
  • Tobacco.

Egypt requires an import permit for all goods except personal gifts up to 20 Egyptian pounds value. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.

Moslem religious books written in other than an Arabic language require a permit from the Customs Department. Copies of the Koran require a permit from the Department of Public Security.

Items of workmanship in precious metals must be marked as to metal content.

Importing and returns

Be advised that Aviation Transport Security (Prohibited Cargo) Instruments are in force, with the effect that air cargo from Egypt is restricted or prohibited. Special documentation

In addition to our customs forms, authorities in the destination country, territory or region require further documentation for some items.

All commercial goods or merchandise must contain an invoice, a detailed list of contents, and a Certificate of Origin. Egyptian postcodes always precede the name of the city or town.
