This chequebook contains 20 booklets of 10 self-adhesive stamps from the Endangered Birds stamp issue. There is a total of 200 stamps contained in the chequebook.
Since European colonisation, around 29 Australian bird species and subspecies have become extinct. It's also estimated that one in six species are currently under threat. This issue features bird species classified nationally as endangered or critically endangered under the EPBC (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation) Act. They include Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, the tiny Mallee Emu-wren and the lively Capricorn Yellow Chat. All illustrations are by award-winning watercolour artist Frances McMahon.
