2025 Aussie Big Things 2 Postcard – The Big Merino
Product overview
Postcards are a great way to keep in contact with family and friends. Prepaid postcards can be posted from any red post box located in Australia or at your local Post Office. They can be sent domestically, or worldwide. No stamp is required as the prepaid postcard includes postage, making it easier for you to stay in touch.
The Big Merino, the world's biggest merino sheep, stands three storeys and 15.2 metres high, close to the southern Hume Highway interchange at Goulburn, New South Wales, on the traditional lands of the Gundungurra people. The impressive monument was constructed in 1985 by Adelaide builder Glenn Senner and modelled on a local stud ram named Rambo. The original steel frame was covered and shaped with wire mesh then sprayed and detailed in reinforced concrete. The Big Merino is a fitting tribute to Goulburn, which boasts to being the "Fine Wool Capital of the World". Inside the giant ram is an exhibition on the history of wool in Australia and next door is a gift shop selling wool-related and other products. Today the Big Merino is one of Goulburn's favourite tourist attractions.
