The Big Rocking Horse is located at Gumeracha, in the Adelaide Hills, on the traditional lands of the Peramangk people. Claiming to be the world's biggest rocking horse, it stands at more than 18 metres tall and weighs a hefty 25 tonnes. Designed by David McIntosh and John Twopenny, the steel-framed and clad Big Rocking Horse opened in 1981 after eight months of construction. The big horse is set in concrete to prevent rocking, but visitors can be entertained by ascending inside to three viewing platforms. The Big Rocking Horse, which is part of a larger complex incorporating a toy factory, a café and souvenir shop and wildlife park attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
