One of Orange's favourite sons, Andrew Barton "Banjo" Paterson was born at the nearby property Narrambla in 1864. His birth was registered at the Orange Court House and his baptism was recorded at Holy Trinity Anglican Church. The Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival is held annually in Orange. The great poet's birthplace is commemorated by the Banjo Paterson Memorial Park commemorative obelisk and statue, on Ophir Road, Orange.
