Incoming international items 

Whether or not tracking information is available for items sent to Australia from overseas depends on the postal or courier service used in the country the item is being sent from (fees may apply). 

For more information on tracking an item you’re expecting from overseas, please contact the sender of the item and have them check with their delivery service.

Only paper items such as letters and documents should be sent inside regular paper envelopes.

Any other items could easily be damaged or lost in transit, and so shouldn’t be posted in regular paper envelopes. Some examples include:

• rigid or inflexible items like keys, pens, USB sticks or CDs, which could be damaged by our machines or torn from the envelope and lost
• bendable or crushable items such as photographs or certificates, which could easily be bent or creased

Yes. We'll track the scan events for Registered Post prepaid envelopes and labels as they progress through our network. The number of tracking scans will vary depending on how (and where) the item is lodged, processed and delivered.

For example:

• A scan on lodgement, if lodged over the counter at any Post Office with electronic point of sale (EPOS);
• A scan at a processing facility, if processed by automated mail processing equipment; and
• A scan on delivery, where a tracking scan can be captured.

To receive the recipient's signature as further proof of delivery, please ask for the Delivery Confirmation service as an optional extra for an additional fee when posting your item over the counter at a Post Office.

No, we don’t offer a ‘do not bend’ service.

In order to help protect an item from being bent or crushed during transit, it’s important to package it appropriately, including using thick, unbendable card on both sides.
