Collecting your parcel from the Post Office
Options for future deliveries
We always try our best to deliver your parcel to the address provided. If it's too big to be left in your mailbox and no one's at the delivery address, we'll check if special delivery instructions were provided, or look for a suitable Safe Drop location. We can only Safe Drop a parcel if a signature isn’t required and the delivery instructions allow it.
Your parcel should only go to a Post Office for collection when special delivery instructions can’t be completed or it’s not safe to leave the parcel.
This can happen when the sender won’t permit us to leave a parcel without a signature, or if following your special delivery instructions means our driver would have to leave their vehicle unattended.
If you receive an attempted delivery notification while you were home
This can happen it’s unsafe to deliver to the property – for example, if there’s an unsecured dog, if our driver would have to leave their vehicle out of sight, or any other issue that prevents access.
If you receive an attempted delivery notification, but believe there were no access issues, you can send feedback through our online delivery issue form. Your feedback will be shared with your local delivery centre.
Leave in a safe place (Safe Drop)
If you’ve requested for your parcel to be left in a safe place, you may still receive an attempted delivery notification if:
- a locked gate prevents access
- the front of the property is near the street, in view of passers-by
- the location isn’t protected from the weather
- the driver thinks the item will be unsafe due to other factors, for example, people are gathered outside your property during delivery
Apartments and addresses with multiple residences
We often only have access to a public, ground-floor area, and in some cases have no access at all to any part of an apartment building. This means that sometimes we’re unable to deliver items directly to an apartment, and cannot leave parcels in a public area, as this is considered unsafe.
We can deliver parcels that will fit in your letterbox if this is accessible in a public, ground-floor area. We’ll always try to get in touch with you by intercom to notify you of a parcel delivery.
Redelivery requests
We don’t offer redelivery for parcels taken to a Post Office, but there are options available to help you get your parcel if you can’t make it to the Post Office to collect it.
You can request the parcel be transferred to a more convenient Post Office or let someone collect it on your behalf. To view your options, visit collecting your parcel from the Post Office.
If there was an issue with your delivery experience or something we can improve for next time, you can send your feedback to us with our delivery issue form.
Collecting your parcel from the Post Office
If your parcel is delivered to a Post Office, we’ll send you a notification to let you know when it’s ready to collect. When you come to collect, bring suitable ID as proof of your identity.
We’ll hold your parcel for 10 business days before it’s returned to the sender. In some cases, we can extend the hold time, but this is not guaranteed.
Other collection options
For more options to help with collecting your parcel, including letting someone else collect on your behalf or requesting transfer to another Post Office, visit Post Office collection options.

MyPost account
The best way to have parcels delivered at your convenience is to register for a free MyPost account.
With a MyPost account, you can get free alternative delivery addresses where you can have your item sent to a 24/7 Parcel Locker or directly to a Post Office or Post Office Box that’s close to your home or work. You can use any of these alternative delivery addresses when you’re shopping online and then collect your parcels when it’s convenient for you.
Safe Drop
Check if you’ve got Safe Drop enabled for your parcels. This will allow us to leave parcels in a safe place at your address, as long as the sender doesn’t require signature. For a guide, visit how to set up Safe Drop for your parcel.
