Police checks are a point-in-time verification, and authorities recommend they be considered ‘valid’ for 3 months. It is up to the organisation that requested your police check to determine whether it was completed recently enough to meet their requirements.
Your Australia Post police check will be removed from our secure electronic storage after 90 days. If you have a printed certificate, the validation QR code will also be invalidated at that time.
Effective 4 August 2025, Police Check certificates will be accessible via our Secure Document Delivery system for a period of 90 days from the date of issue, in accordance with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) requirements.
Certificates issued prior to 4 August 2025 and older than 90 days will be removed from the system and will no longer be available.
It’s your responsibility to ensure that the information provided to us on your National Police Check application is correct. So, before you lodge your application at the Post Office or submit online, make sure your information is correct and up to date.
Before submitting your application, check:
Once the police check has been initiated, we’re not able to edit your application or provide a refund.
If you receive your police check certificate and you notice that any of the details are incorrect, you’ll need to apply again to have a correct certificate issued.
If you paid for your police check yourself:
Apply and pay for a new check. You can do this online or at a participating Post Office.
If an organisation paid for your police check:
Australia Post will not provide refunds for any police check applications where incorrect information is provided by the customer.
