Get your identity check done at any participating Post Office across Australia and we’ll send the results to your conveyancing practitioner.

Overseas

Visit an Australian Consulate that offers a verification of identity service. Relevant documentation from this identity check will then be supplied to your conveyancing practitioner.

If you haven't received your digital copy of your ID photos, you should:

• check that the email address printed on the physical photos you received is correct
• check your email 'junk' or 'spam' folder.

If you still haven't received your digital photos, take your receipt and printed photos back to the same Post Office within 14 days of purchase, and we'll take your photos again and email them to you at no cost.

No. VOI reports aren’t transferrable to different conveyancers, lawyers or mortgagees.

Each verification of identity (VOI) report is valid for 2 years with the conveyancer it was done for.

If you need to verify your identity for a new land title transaction with a different conveyancer, you’ll need to complete a new VOI check.

 Yes, in most cases, staff at our Post Offices can witness your signature free of charge. 

Please note that it’s up to individual organisations whether they accept signatures witnessed by Post Office staff. Please check with the relevant organisation before visiting a Post Office.

Anyone buying, selling or transferring a property in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia will need to have a verification of identity (VOI) check (in other states, you don’t need a VOI check).

This means that, in those states, you’ll need to have your identity verified if you’re:

• buying a property, or one of multiple purchasers buying a property
• selling a property, or one of multiple owners selling a property
• transferring a property to someone else, having a property transferred to you, or one of multiple parties involved in the transfer of property.

It’s important to note that this applies for both paper and electronic property transactions.
