As part of our community service obligations, Australia Post is required by law to provide a standard letter service at a uniform price from anywhere to anywhere in the country.
The basic postage rate is the amount of postage required to send a regular (small standard) letter to the regular delivery timetable within Australia.
Currently the basic postage rate is $1.50 (including GST) for regular letters, greeting cards and postcards. Concession card holders may be eligible for concession stamps which are $0.60 each.
A special postage rate of $0.65 applies for Christmas greeting cards sent during November and December. These cards must be enclosed in a sealed envelope and endorsed ‘card only’.
