Our 24/7 Parcel Lockers are arranged in rows, however when you register for one through a MyPost account, we ask if you:

• have difficulty reaching above 1.5m height
• have difficulty reaching below 0.5m

This allows us to place your parcels in a Parcel Locker that you can access.

If you use a wheelchair or are visually impaired, we recommend you answer yes to these questions so your parcels will always be placed within the middle row of lockers.

You can update your access requirements at any time by logging in to your account.

Please note: by making these selections, there are fewer lockers available for your parcel and this may mean that you won’t have access to a large locker if required. If this is the case, larger parcels might need to be collected from a postal facility. You’ll receive a notification via email and SMS to let you know where you can collect your item.

 Yes, in most cases, staff at our Post Offices can witness your signature free of charge. 

Please note that it’s up to individual organisations whether they accept signatures witnessed by Post Office staff. Please check with the relevant organisation before visiting a Post Office.

We can take passport photos suitable for New Zealand passports. However, only some of our Post Offices that take passport photos can supply an emailed digital copy of your photo - which will be needed to complete your New Zealand passport renewal online.

You can use our locations and hours tool to find a Post Office that can take your passport photos and email you a digital copy. Simply select 'ID photos - emailed digital photos' under 'view all services' or click on the link below.

Be sure to note that New Zealand passport photos differ to those for Australian passport photos. Please let our staff know that you need photos suitable for a New Zealand passport.

Post Offices that offer instant passport and ID photos can take photos of children and infants. Our staff will use their best efforts to take photos that meet necessary guidelines, however it is not always easy to take passport compliant photos of infants or children.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade requires that all Australian passport photos are taken against a pale background, irrespective of the person’s age. If your child needs to be held due to age or other circumstances, it may be difficult to use our supplied backdrop. For this reason, please bring a white baby blanket or wrap (or similar) with you to use as a backdrop if required.

In most cases, you can nominate someone else to collect a parcel or letter from the Post Office for you.

If you can’t make it to the Post Office yourself, you can either:

• arrange for someone else who lives or works at the delivery address to collect it for you
• give someone else authority to collect for you. To see the ways you can do this, visit collecting a parcel from the Post Office

At the Post Office counter, we’ll ask them to show proof of identity. If the item they’re collecting was sent to a Parcel Collect address or transferred from a Parcel Locker, they’ll also need to show the collection notification email or SMS we sent you. At the counter, they can show the email or SMS – forwarded by you – on their phone, or present a printout of the email.

Signature required items

In some cases, though, the sender may require that you collect and sign for the item in-person. This means you can’t authorise someone else to collect it for you. If you’re ordering something online, you should be made aware of this when placing your order.
