You can check that your Australian tertiary student photo ID card is valid by searching for your institution’s name via the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) national register.
If your institution isn’t registered, you’ll need to select a different identity document.

Standard police check processing
In most cases, you’ll receive your National Police Check result and email to download your certificate within 2 business hours of your check being lodged (online or at the Post Office). If you selected and paid for a printed certificate when you applied for your check, this should be delivered within 10 days via Registered Post.
Why is my check taking longer?
Police checking is a partially manual, name-based process, so some checks take longer to process than others. If your application is more complex for any reason it may be referred for manual processing by one or more police agencies. In this case it normally takes up to 10 business days to complete, or longer, depending on demand.
You can check on the status of your police check by clicking on the application status online link in the email you will receive if your application is delayed.
Hard copy certificates are typically received by post within 10 days.
That's okay, just enter your details for each ID type as they appear on the ID type you are trying to identify yourself against.

The ‘working with vulnerable people’ field has been removed from National Police Checks and will no longer be shown on Police Check certificates. This change has been made by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) as a result of changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) legislation.
If your employer requires a working with vulnerable people check, they’ll need to get an alternative check done by the relevant body.
Please visit the links below for further information on other alternative checks that could be more relevant for your application:

When you apply for a police check through Australia Post, it’s not valid for a specific amount of time. Instead, it’s up to the organisation that requested your police check to decide if the check was done recently enough to meet their needs.
Your Australia Post police check will be removed from our secure electronic storage after 12 months. Where you have a printed certificate, the validation QR code will also be invalidated at this time.
