Domestic

All of our domestic parcel services offer signature on delivery as an optional extra for an additional fee.

Simply ask for this option when posting your item over the counter at any Post Office or add it when creating a label through Click and Send.

If you’ve sent an item with signature on delivery and you’d like a copy of the signature once the parcel has been delivered, please contact us. (Please note, we can only provide this information to the sender of the item).

International

When using our international delivery services, you can receive a signature on delivery with International Express, International Standard or Registered Post International.

• you pay for and post your item over the counter at a Post Office, OR
• you pay for your item online using Click and Send

Parcels requiring a signature on delivery can only be left unattended at your address if you’ve already authorised us to do so. You can grant authorisation from your MyPost account. This way, the signature requirement is waived as long as the sender allows it, and you can choose a safe, secure and weather-proof place for us to leave future eligible parcels.

If you want to make sure that your parcel deliveries aren't left unattended, or safe dropped, there are a number of things you can do:

• register for MyPost to access a free 24/7 Parcel Locker or Parcel Collect address. Then simply have senders address your parcels to this address for you to collect at your convenience
• use a Post Office Box address
• have your parcel delivered to your work address
• ask the sender to use our signature on delivery service when posting the item, which means we'll only deliver it if someone is there to sign for it.

If we find you’re entitled to compensation and/or a postage refund, we will generally pay it in the form of electronic fund transfer or a money order. Neither the compensation included with our service nor the purchase of Extra Cover limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.

For extra peace of mind, you can add optional extras like Extra Cover, Signature on Delivery, Email and Track Advice.

Extra Cover

Provides loss or damage cover with most services and for most items you’ll send with us for up to $5,000 while your article is being carried by Australia Post.^*

Private and business addresses

We’ll leave your parcel in a safe place when we can leave it in a safe, discreet, weather-proof area at the delivery address.

At home or work, these are the spots you can currently select from:

• any safe place on your premises
• at the front door
• in your mailbox (if size allows)
• on the front porch
• by the side gate.

We’re unlikely to leave your parcel if:

• the front of the property is close to the street
• someone walking past might easily see it
• You live in an apartment or gated community (unless gaining access is easy)
• your parcel would be out in the weather.

The safety and security of your parcel is important to us. If we believe the safe place you’ve requested is unsuitable, we may choose to leave it in a different spot (and leave a card to let you know where), or to take it to a local Post Office to be collected. If we deliver it to the Post Office you’ll be notified by card, email or SMS to let you know where and when you can collect your item.

24/7 Parcel Lockers

Signature on delivery parcels will automatically be delivered to a 24/7 Parcel Locker without requiring a signature.

Post Office Boxes

Post Office Box addresses aren’t included for the left in a safe place service.

All parcel deliveries
We’ll Safe Drop parcels as long as the delivery person feels this is a suitable option and there’s an appropriate safe, secure, weather-proof spot to leave it.

If Safe Drop isn’t suitable, either because of bad weather or other factors, they may choose to take it to a local Post Office to be collected. If this happens, you’ll be notified by card, email or SMS to let you know where and when you can collect your item.

Parcels that need a signature on delivery

Signature on delivery parcels will only be delivered via Safe Drop if you have authorised this (and where the sender also allows).

Weather conditions and other factors can change at any time, which is why the location you choose for your Safe Drop should always be weather-proof, safe and secure.

If you’ve authorised a Safe Drop for your signature on delivery item, but you’ve changed your mind for any reason, you can remove your authorisation completely, or change your Safe Drop location up to one hour before the item is due to be delivered.
