Passports and identity photos

You don’t need an appointment for a passport application, just visit a participating Post Office during operating hours. Check our peak times and closing hours.

If you’re aged 16 and over, you must apply for a 10-year passport. For children under 16, a 5-year passport is required. Adults aged 75 and over can choose to apply for a 5-year passport instead. 

1. Complete the online form or pick up an application form at a participating Post Office.
2. Get your passport photos taken and get them signed by a referee or guarantor.
3. Lodge your application at a participating Post Office.
4. Pay your passport application fee. We accept payments by cash, MasterCard, Visa, AMEX or EFTPOS. This fee is a non-refundable administration fee. Passport fees are set by the Australian Passport Office and are subject to change.
