Cover for loss or damage
Sending something valuable? Get cover for the specified value of your item (up to $5,000) and you'll rest easy.
Then, if your item's lost or damaged in transit, you should be entitled to compensation.
Availability and price
You can buy Extra Cover# with all services except Registered Post International, which comes with $100 compensation for loss or damage included.
Cover costs $9.60 for the first $100 of your item's specified value, plus $2.50 for each additional $100 (or part thereof).

To make a claim, you'll need to lodge a claim form within 6 months of posting your item, or 30 days in the case of Express parcels. Claim forms are available at all Post Offices.
You may be asked to provide supporting information, a statutory declaration and proof of identity.

The maximum cover available for Economy Air letters is $500. Cover up to $5,000 is available for all our other services, but some countries have lower limits. Others don't allow some items to be covered at all.
