"We see Australia Post as our front line. There's no way we could check identity and forms, accept payments and process check applications across a state the size of WA without it."
- Sandie van Soelen, Director of the WA Working with Children Screening Unit

Background

People who work with children in Western Australia are required to undergo a WA Working with Children Check, through the WA Working with Children Screening Unit. Successful applicants are issued with a Working with Children Card, which must be renewed every three years.

Challenge

The unit needed to offer access to Working with Children Checks in WA and interstate. Each applicant's photo must be taken, their form reviewed and a 100-point identity check completed.

Solution

Australia Post's extensive retail network and identity services allow the unit to offer convenient, compliant access to WA Working with Children Checks.

Results

Over 220 Australia Post retail outlets distribute forms, conduct identity checks and capture data. More than 100,000 applications are currently being received and processed each year, while maintaining the unit's high standards.
