Your business can get a single GPO Box address, or the same box number in each capital city.
Best way to manage your mail if you live in a rural or remote area. Apply in-store only.
You can lease a box or bag for up to 1 year in-store and 5 years online, and keep renewing it annually if you want to. Our pro rata pricing runs from 1 April until 31 March the following year.
For new leases, you'll pay an establishment fee, and what's left of the annual pro rata price, depending on what month you take out your lease. The pro rata charge for each month is one twelfth of the annual fee.
Any lease that starts in February or March will include charges for a full year in addition to pro rata fees.

When you first take out your lease, you'll need to buy at least 2 mail bags - one to take with you and one to hand back to us each time you collect your mail. This is so that we have an empty bag on hand at all times to sort your next lot of mail for you.

How GPO Boxes for businesses work
You have 2 options for GPO Boxes:
- 1 GPO Box address at a fixed location
- Multiple GPO Box addresses at different locations (known as common boxes)
Common boxes are available at the General Post Office (GPO) in each capital city. Our standard common box package includes Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart. You can also extend your GPO Box number to Canberra and Darwin.
What you'll pay to have a common box address depends on how many GPO boxes you decide you want. You'll be charged for each GPO Box according to its size. Hobart, Darwin, and Canberra are charged at the specified rate.
Once your application is approved, you'll get a GPO Box number between 9800 and 9999. This becomes your new address in each state. Your customers then simply address their mail to your GPO Box number in their own capital city.
We offer a range of Post Office Box and Private Bag sizes. Not sure which size suits you? See our guide below:
