Why have you replaced my Parcel Locker Customer ID with an Australia Post Customer Number? Click to expand Click to collapse

Providing you with an Australia Post Customer Number as part of the software upgrade in March 2013 gives you more choice and convenience around your parcel deliveries. With an Australia Post Customer Number, you can register for multiple Parcel Locker locations, access My Deliveries, a handy online tool to manage and track all your parcel deliveries, and other Australia Post online services.

Can I register to receive parcels at more than one 24/7 Parcel Locker location? Click to expand Click to collapse

You can register for up to 10 addresses in your online address book which can include multiple Parcel Locker locations or addresses.

How can I add another Parcel Locker or change my Parcel Locker location? Click to expand Click to collapse

Why don't I receive my Australia Post Customer Number with my email notifying that I have a parcel? Click to expand Click to collapse

To ensure the security of your parcel, we do not email your Australia Post Customer Number with your one-off access code. To collect your parcel you need to use something you already know (your Australia Post Customer Number) with something we have told you for this delivery (the one-off access code). If your email contained both codes anyone with access to your emails could collect your parcel.

It will assist us if your new online purchases are addressed to your new Parcel Locker address.

How do 24/7 Parcel Lockers work? Click to expand Click to collapse

  • When you register online, we will assign you a Parcel Locker address. Use this address to have your parcels delivered directly to your locker rather than to a home or work address.
  • Once your parcel is placed in a Parcel Locker, you will be notified by email (and if requested, SMS) to collect it and will be provided with a one-off access code to open the locker. You will have 48 hours to collect your parcel.
  • When you arrive at the locker location, please go to the console and follow the on screen prompts.
  • Once you enter your access code the locker door will open, allowing you to collect your parcel.
  • When the locker door is opened, the software that supports the lockers will record that the parcel has been collected and if required, advise the sender that the parcel has been delivered to you.
  • Please close the locker door once you have collected your parcel.
  • If your parcel is not collected within 48 hours, it will be removed from the Parcel Locker and transferred to the nearest Australia Post facility offering parcel collection. We will remind you before this happens.
  • If your parcel is transferred to an Australia Post facility for collection, we will notify you by email, that your parcel has been moved, where to collect it, and the trading hours for that outlet. If you have requested SMS notifications, you will also be notified by SMS.

If the parcel from an overseas country is sent to Australia by that country's designated postal operator and following the Universal Postal Union (UPU) rules for international mail exchanges, your parcel will be delivered into the Parcel Locker. For example, if the parcel is from the UK and is sent to Australia by the UK's postal operator Royal Mail which follows UPU rules, your parcel will be delivered to the Parcel Lockers.

If the parcel from an overseas country is sent to Australia by a carrier that is not the country's designated postal operator, it can still be delivered into the Parcel Lockers if the carrier pays to deliver the parcel into the lockers.

Can carriers other than Australia Post deliver parcels to a Parcel Locker? Click to expand Click to collapse

No carriers are denied delivery access to the Parcel Lockers. Australia Post accepts domestic and international parcels from other carriers into our Parcel Lockers if those parcels have been lodged by the carriers as Australia Post articles addressed to the recipients' Parcel Lockers. To lodge the articles into our network, the carriers must pay Australia Post for the service.

StarTrack is a subsidiary of Australia Post, and parcels carried by StarTrack will be accepted for delivery into Parcel Lockers.

We have informed other carriers of our policy and it is up to the carrier to decide if they wish to pay to deliver to the Parcel Lockers.

Where possible, customers are advised to check which shipping partners or parcel delivery provider(s) are available on the website they're buying from.

How can I tell which carriers or shipping partners that online retailers I'm buying from uses? Click to expand Click to collapse

We appreciate that it is not always easy to determine which carrier the online retailer uses.

That is why we gave the carriers more than a month's notice before this change was implemented so they can determine if they wish to pay for delivery access to the parcel lockers and work out with the online retailers how they will let customers know whether parcel lockers are an available delivery option.

The retailers affected may update their websites informing customers they do not deliver to parcel locker addresses.

What will happen to my parcel if the carrier doesn't want to pay for delivery access to the Parcel Lockers? Click to expand Click to collapse

Carriers who do not wish to pay to deliver your parcel to the parcel lockers will follow current standard procedure for carriers, which is to contact you, the customer or the retailer to organise an alternative delivery address or pick up from their depot.

Can parcels requiring the recipient's ID to be recorded at delivery be collected from the 24/7 Parcel Lockers? Click to expand Click to collapse

No, parcels requiring the recipient's ID to be recorded at delivery cannot be delivered to a Parcel Locker as these items require a specified personal ID to be checked and recorded at the time of delivery.

When I receive a card in my letterbox advising I have a parcel to collect from an Australia Post retail outlet, can I transfer the parcel to a Parcel Locker? Click to expand Click to collapse

No, as there is a charge to transfer a parcel to another location after an unsuccessful home delivery attempt. We encourage you to use your Parcel Locker address instead of your home address as a mailing address for your parcels.

Can family members use my 24/7 Parcel Locker? Click to expand Click to collapse

No, only parcels addressed to you can be delivered to your Parcel Locker as the recipient name on the parcel must match the registered name for the Parcel Locker service. If your family members want to use a Parcel Locker, they will need to register for a 24 / 7 Parcel Locker. Please be aware that each registration requires a unique email address.

Are 24/7 Parcel Lockers accessible for people who use wheelchairs, crutches or frames and can they be used by people who are visual or hearing impaired? Click to expand Click to collapse

A number of people who have advised us that they are wheelchair users, visually or hearing impaired, are successfully using our Parcel Lockers. When you register for an Australia Post Parcel Locker we ask if you;

  • Have difficulty reaching above 1.5m height
  • Have difficulty reaching below 0.5m.

We do this so that your parcels will be placed in a Parcel Locker that you can access.

If you are visually impaired and want to use a Parcel Locker, we recommend you answer yes to these questions so your locker will always be restricted to the middle row of lockers.

However, you need to be aware that by making these selections, there are fewer lockers available for your parcel and in some instances this will mean that you will not have access to a large locker so larger parcels may need to be collected from the counter during business hours.

How do I close my 24/7 Parcel Locker account? Click to expand Click to collapse

To opt-out of the Parcel Locker service, delete your Parcel Locker addresses from your online address book. You will be advised that a Parcel Locker address is required to use the service. If you choose not to have a Parcel Locker address, you are choosing to opt-out.

Where are 24/7 Parcel Lockers located? Click to expand Click to collapse

You can search for where Parcel Lockers are available at auspost.com.au/pol. Enter your address, suburb, postcode or state, and then choose Parcel Lockers and Search. A list of locations and a map showing where Parcel Lockers are located will display.
