The Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition Prestige Postal Numismatic Cover features a mint uncirculated coloured version of the 2021 Great Aussie Coin Hunt 2’s $1 AlBr “G” coin. The uncirculated coloured coin is limited in edition and was only available in random tubes of Great Aussie Coin Hunt 2 coins.

This postal and numismatic cover houses an uncirculated, limited-edition, coloured coin depicting a detail of reef life; the Royal Australian Mint has produced the coin in aluminium-bronze. The embellished postage-paid cover is limited to a numbered run of 2,500.

The Great Barrier Reef is arguably Australia’s most prized environmental treasure, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981. This highly complex natural ecosystem covers 344,400 square kilometres and runs from near the tip of Queensland’s east coast to just north of Bundaberg at its south. The sea country of 70 traditional owner groups, it is the largest coral reef system in the world – a mosaic of more than 3,000 individual coral reefs and hundreds of continental islands and coral cays. While the reef itself is a living architecture of some 600 species of soft and hard corals, it is also home to a great abundance of marine life, which includes some 1,625 species of fish, 3,000 species of molluscs and much, much more.
