Product overview
- Gold proof domed coin celebrating the Year of the Snake
- 750 mintage
This prestigious 2025 $100 1oz Gold Proof Domed Coin celebrates the Year of the Snake. Coins are a traditional gift for Lunar New Year, which is celebrated worldwide. This magnificent coin features the serene snake, amongst auspicious bamboo, a symbol of virtue. The Lunar calendar is presented on the obverse, rotated with the Snake at the top. According to legend, twelve animals participated in a race across a river to allow the Jade Emperor to establish the order of the signs of the Chinese horoscope. After the Dragon had taken the 5th place, the horse looked next in line but suddenly the Snake appeared at the Horse's hooves causing it to jump back in surprise, allowing the Snake to cross the line in 6th place. People born in the year if the Snake are also believed to be creative and serene. Famous Snakes include musicians Taylor Swift and Neil Diamond, actor Daniel Radcliffe, Australian performer Emma Watkins and cricketing brothers Steve and Mark Waugh.
