Australia Post is celebrating the Melbourne Storm's gripping win in the NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final, with a 2020 NRL Premiers stamp and medallion cover. The stamp and medallion cover is limited to just 1,500.
In what has been an NRL season like no other, Melbourne Storm has claimed the 2020 NRL Premiership, with a 26–20 win over the Penrith Panthers, in front of 37,303 spectators at ANZ Stadium, Sydney, on 25 October 2020. Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen was named Clive Churchill Medallist, scoring one try, a line break and 210 run metres.
Legend of the game Cameron Smith led the Storm to its fourth premiership, despite the side having two players in the sin bin during the final moments of the game. The youthful Panthers side had staged an impressive fightback late in the second half, scoring four unanswered tries, to claw back from 26–0. The Storm’s considerable finals experience perhaps gave it an edge over the Panthers.
Coach Craig Bellamy, in his 18th consecutive season, managed to guide his team to victory, despite an interrupted season, which saw the competition suspended on 23 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The NRL season recommenced on 28 May, but after a second lockdown in Victoria, the Storm relocated in late June, first to New South Wales and then to Queensland.
