Items up to 22kg that are too large or heavy to fit in a satchel can still be sent by Express Post. Simply attach an Express Post parcels label to your pre-packaged item. Postage varies by weight and destination. Labels are available through Post Offices and via MyPost Business

You can still use Express Post for delivery to or from areas that fall outside the Express Post next business day delivery network. While next business day delivery is not guaranteed, your item will still be processed, handled and delivered as fast as possible. 'Contact sender' means your item has been returned to the sender.

This can happen if we couldn't process the item for the following reasons:

• Some of the details were wrong or were incomplete.
• We weren't able to deliver the item. We sent a collection notification, but no one picked it up in 10 business days.
• Some of the details the sender gave us when they posted the item were wrong or weren’t complete.

If this happens, we’ll let the sender know why the item has been returned to them.

You should contact the sender to organise redelivery.

Prepaid Express Post items lodged in our yellow street posting boxes must generally be posted before 4pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays).

However, lodgement times are earlier in Perth and some other metropolitan and regional centres so please check the time on the yellow Express Post box.

If your Express Post envelope, satchel, or parcel isn't delivered as promised, and was posted as per our service terms and conditions within the Express Post next business day network, we'll refund the sender of the article the cost of posting. Please contact us to make a claim.

Please note that items lodged in yellow Street Posting Boxes will be eligible for the Express Post next-day guarantee where our scan verifies that the item was lodged before the cut-off time on that day.

The Express Post delivery network is the network within which we guarantee next business day delivery for Express Post items.

Outside of this network (PDF 146kB), Express Post items will be delivered as fast as possible using existing transport links.

You can use the Express Post parcel service for the delivery of items up to 22kg, which is the same weight limit for all of our parcels services. The item must also be under 0.25m cubic dimension and 105cm in length.

Our Express Post satchels are suitable for sending up to 5kg and are eligible for If It Packs, It Posts flat postage rates based on size.

The price we quote for prepaid Express Post items is all-inclusive. GST is included and there are no additional fuel or security surcharges, account keeping fees or redirection charges. Using Express Post means you will not be hit with any unexpected charges at the end of the month.

For your added convenience, select Express Post items can now be ordered online and delivered to your door.

For guaranteed next business day delivery within the Express Post next business day network, you can lodge your Express Post item in one of our yellow street posting boxes or over the counter at any Post Office before the lodgement cut off time.

Australia Post credit account customers can also call 13 11 18 to organise a regular pick up from their business premises.

Please note: Posting your Express Post item in a red street posting box will delay your delivery and mean that we cannot guarantee next business day delivery.

For certain articles, Australia Post packaging may be cheaper. This is due to Australia Post packaging: 

• Being optimised to gain efficiencies in our parcel processing and deliveries network
• Having address label format and positioning, postage label and barcode positioning designed to minimise manual handling
• Using colours which are easily read by our scanners

We’re making sending simpler and more straightforward by introducing national flat rate postage for items 5kg or less sent within Australia.

Now if you’re sending from Melbourne to Sydney, or Cairns to Karratha, you’ll pay the same flat rate postage, depending on the speed of delivery chosen.

When you use your own packaging, flat rate postage is based on the weight tier your item fits into: up to 500g, 500g to 1kg, 1kg to 3kg and 3kg to 5kg.
