We’re focused on helping build a sustainable society by reducing our environmental impacts, facilitating a circular economy and ensuring a transparent and traceable supply chain.
Our approach to environmental management is multi-faceted and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. We’re focusing on:
We’ve set targets to decarbonise and put us on a path to Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Carbon emissions
Reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 15% from an FY19 baseline. Source 100% renewable electricity by 2025 across our sites, including our processing and delivery centres, Corporate Post Offices and support offices.
Waste management
Reduce our waste to landfill across our business (FY19 baseline) by 20%, and increase our recycling rate to 70% by 2025.

Reducing our environmental impact
We’ve implemented several large-scale projects to help cut our emissions footprint, reduce environmental risks and deliver sustainable solutions for our people, customers and communities.
Carbon neutral parcel delivery
In partnership with Qantas Future Planet, parcel postage paid via the Post Office, Online Shop, or MyPost Business account is carbon neutral.1
Packaging made from recycled materials
We offer a wide choice of packaging that is recyclable and contains recycled materials.
Ethical supply chain
To ensure a high level of transparency and successful integration of sustainable practices across our supply chain, we’ve partnered with Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX).
Greener facilities
We’re continually seeking innovative ways to make energy efficiency improvements across our network of facilities, including the introduction of large-scale solar panel and wind farm projects.
We're driving towards a more sustainable future
As part of our broader corporate responsibility strategy, we’re constantly implementing sustainable initiatives within our transport network. Some of these initiatives include:
Increasing efficiency
Following an independently managed trial with Ampol, we’ve introduced a new fuel product into our fuel tanks, which is forecast to deliver 700,000 litres in fuel savings and a 2,000 tonne reduction in carbon by June 2023.
We’ve also increased the number of hybrid cars and introduced Fuso eCanter electric trucks into our fleet. These all-electric vehicles produce zero emissions and virtually no noise.
Electrification of our fleet
We have Australia's largest electric delivery fleet, with over 5000 electric delivery vehicles, including electric bikes, which allow our posties to cover up to 35+ kilometres a day, and reach 1,000+ delivery points.
Our three-wheeled electric vehicles carry 1,200+ letters a day, and three times as many parcels compared to previous levels.
Reducing emissions with suppliers
To address our Scope 3 indirect emissions, including air freight and contractor vehicles, we strategically engage with our largest road, air and road freight providers to determine a common pathway to reduce our environmental impact.
