Letter writing for students

Our three lesson plans below explain how students can write an effective letter and learn about the history of letter writing.

Grades Prep to 2

This lesson encourages younger students to write about their interests and communicate with friends, family and anyone familiar to them. They will learn to correctly structure a letter and how writing can be meaningful and relevant to life.

Grades 3 to 4

Middle-grade students will think of an issue in their school or local area. They will then brainstorm ways to solve or improve the issue and write a persuasive letter to their Principal or Local Member of Parliament.

Grades 5 to 6

Older students will learn how writing in code is a fun and interesting way to communicate. This will help develop their problem solving skills, communication and creative thinking by analysing coded messages and letters.
