 Benefit Description 

Overseas medical expenses

Overseas hospital, medical, surgical, nursing, ambulance and emergency dental expenses*. 

Additional expenses

Additional accommodation and transportation expenses as a result of events such as sickness, natural disasters, loss of travel documents and strikes. 

Amendment or cancellation costs

Cost of rearranging or cancelling your journey because of unforeseen circumstances outside your control such as illness, accidents and extreme weather conditions 

Luggage and personal effects

Replace, repair or pay you the value in cash of lost, stolen or damaged luggage and personal effects. 

Travel documents

Replacement cost of lost or stolen travel documents, passports and credit cards. 

Delayed luggage allowance

If all of your luggage is delayed by a Transport Provider during the Journey for more than 24 hours. Up to $375 for essential emergency items of clothing and toiletries if all your luggage is delayed by a Transport Provider. This limit will be doubled if you still have not received your luggage after 72 hours. 

Theft of money

Reimbursement for cash, bank or currency notes, postal or money orders accidentally lost or stolen from your person. 

Rental car insurance excess

Excess charges for damage to or theft of a rental car whilst in your control. 

Travel delay

Additional accommodation expenses if your scheduled transport is delayed over 6 hours. 

Resumption of journey

Cost to resume your travels if you had to return to Australia due to the sudden serious injury, sickness, disease or death of a relative or business partner in Australia. 

Special events

Additional public transport costs to get you to a special event (such as a wedding or pre-paid conference) if you would miss it due to unforeseen circumstances outside your control. 

Hospital incidentals

Miscellaneous expenses up to $50 per night if you are hospitalised overseas for at least 48 hours. 

Loss of income

Loss of income for up to 6 months if you suffer an accident or injury while travelling and are unable to work when you return to Australia. 

Accidental death

A benefit will be paid to you if you die within 12 months from an injury that occurred during your trip. 


Cover for an injury that causes permanent total loss of sight in one or both eyes, or the permanent total loss of use of one or more limbs within 12 months of the date of the accident. 

Personal liability

Personal liability if your negligent act or omission during the journey causes bodily injury or damage to property of other persons.

* Medical cover will not exceed 12 months from onset.
