Managing your funds

How to manage your Load&Go Travel card

Once you've registered your card, you can log in to the Load&Go Travel website to:

  • convert Australian Dollars $AUD into $NZD, $USD, €EUR, £GBP
  • transfer money between the different currency 'wallets'
  • prioritise your 'wallet funding order'
  • view your card balance and transaction history

Managing currencies on your card

You can hold 5 currencies ($AUD, $NZD, $USD, €EUR, £GBP) on your Load&Go Travel card. Amounts in each currency are held separately in what is referred to as a 'wallet'.

Making a foreign purchase or ATM cash withdrawal Click to expand Click to collapse

When you make a purchase or ATM cash withdrawal in a currency offered by the card, the card will automatically use funds held in the wallet that corresponds with the currency of the transaction in order to fund the transaction and any associated fees.

If there are insufficient funds available in the wallet that corresponds with the currency of the transaction, the card will automatically convert funds held in the remaining wallets to the currency of the transaction to cover the shortfall amount, based on the wallet funding order.

The value of the transaction together with any fees will then be completed, with the converted shortfall amounts reducing the balance of the applicable wallets, and therefore the total amount of your card balance. A foreign currency conversion will be performed at the then prevailing exchange rate determined by Australia Post.

You may nominate your wallet funding order via the Load&Go Travel website. If you do not nominate your wallet funding order, we will apply the default wallet funding order.

To choose the priority on your wallet funding order, log in to the Load&Go Travel website.

Default wallet funding order Click to expand Click to collapse

Each currency held on your card sits in a different 'wallet'. If you do not choose the priority on your wallet funding order, we will apply the following default wallet funding order when funding your transactions:

  1. $AUD Australian Dollars
  2. $NZD New Zealand Dollars
  3. $USD United States Dollars
  4. €EUR Euros
  5. £GBP Great British Pounds

To change your wallet funding order, log in to the Load&Go Travel website.

Making up a shortfall in one wallet Click to expand Click to collapse

You don't need to worry about a transaction being declined if you have insufficient funds in one wallet. Instead, the shortfall will be made up automatically from additional wallets, which have sufficient funds available, based on the priority of your wallet funding order.

Example:

You currently have the following funds available in your 'wallets':

$AUD wallet: AUD$500
$USD wallet: USD$200

You purchase an item for USD$250.

USD$200 is debited from your $USD wallet. To complete the transaction, the card would automatically convert and debit the AUD equivalent of USD$50 from your AUD wallet to cover the shortfall.

This would leave $US0 in your $USD wallet and reduce the balance of your $AUD wallet by the AUD equivalent of USD$50.

Note: The foreign exchange conversion for $AUD to $USD would be applied at the prevailing exchange rate determined by Australia Post at the time.

Transactions in currencies not offered by the card Click to expand Click to collapse

If you make a purchase or an ATM cash withdrawal in a currency that is not one of the 5 currencies offered by the card, the card will automatically use funds held in your AUD wallet in order to fund the transaction.

Note: When a transaction is performed in a currency that is not one of the 5 currencies offered by the card, a foreign exchange conversion will apply at the then prevailing applicable Visa exchange rate. A Foreign Currency Conversion Fee of 3% of the $AUD equivalent amount will also be applied to the transaction. This fee will be automatically debited from your card balance at the time the transaction is completed.
