  1. Choose your currency (USD, GBP or EUR) and check the exchange rate

  2. Buy your card from a participating Australia Post retail outlet (bring 2 accepted forms of ID)
  3. Activate your card
  4. Use your card!

Proof of ID requirements

You'll need to bring 2 forms of ID with you - 1 primary ID and 1 secondary ID. At least 1 must list your current address.You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for an American Express GlobalTravel Card.

Activate your card

You need to activate your primary card before you start using it. Funds will be available within 24 hours of activation. 

Simply call American Express after midday (AEST) the business day after purchase on 1800 053 420 (within Australia) .

Simply bring your card and Australian driver's licence (or another form of primary and secondary ID) into a participating Australia Post retail outlet and pay by cash or EFTPOS2. Funds will be available after midday (AEST) the following business day.
