Post guides

Offering a number of useful guidelines of the Australian Postal Corporation regarding the provision of postal services within Australia, the following Post Guides* are published periodically and can be downloaded below.

The Post Charges booklet contains the postage charges applicable to the supply of postal services by Australia Post.

The Dangerous & Prohibited Goods and Packaging Post Guide contains the standards of the Australian Postal Corporation regarding goods that must not be posted and conditions of posting and packaging for certain other goods.

The Customer guidelines for posting lithium batteries contains details on the types of lithium batteries that are accepted by Australia Post and how to package and label your battery or device so that it is safe to send. These guidelines replace the information about lithium batteries currently in Section D 10.2.3 of the Dangerous Goods Guide.

The Parcel Post Guide contains the standards of the Australian Postal Corporation regarding Parcel Post services within Australia.

The International Post Guide contains information regarding the availability, specific conditions and limitations to International Post services.

The General Post Guide contains the guidelines of the Australia Postal Corporation regarding its services including payment of postage; delivery of postal articles and compensation and insurance claims.

The Letter Post Guide contains the standards of the Australian Postal Corporation regarding Letter Post services within Australia.

A summary of charges for frequently used services, based on postcode zones.

To order hard copies of the Post Guides, complete and fax back the order form.

An initial subscription of $50 includes a Post Guide folder along with the latest issues of all Post Guides listed above.

A subsequent annual subscription fee of $20 is payable on receipt of a renewal notice sent each year in January. This ensures that you receive all amendments / revisions to the guides during that year.

* Under the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989, the Board of the Australian Postal Corporation determines the terms and conditions that apply to the provision of postal services within Australia. The terms and conditions are contained in the Australia Post Terms and Conditions (APTC) and Determination of Postage Charges (Rates Determination).

Although Australia Post makes every effort to ensure accuracy at the time of publication, the information in the Post Guides may be revised at any time and services may be modified, added to or withdrawn. Australia Post shall not be liable to any person, whether a purchaser of the Post Guides or not, for any loss or damage of any kind whatsoever arising from any errors or omissions in the Post Guides or from reliance placed upon all or any part of the contents of the Post Guides.
