Existing medical conditions

Check you're covered, just in case

If you have an existing medical condition, you'll want to be confident you'll be taken care of if something happens while you're overseas or if you need to cancel your journey.

There are many medical conditions we do automatically cover at no extra charge, if you've had no major complications in the last six months. For others, you may be able to pay an extra premium to ensure you are fully covered if your condition flares up or deteriorates. If this is the case, you may need to complete an online medical assessment. You can complete an online medical assessment at the same time as obtaining an online quote or call 132 331 for additional assistance.

See the Product Disclosure Statement for existing medical conditions definitions and any exclusions or conditions that may apply, and call us if you're unsure.

What if I'm pregnant?

You will need to complete an online medical assessment to ensure you're covered for pregnancy if any of the below points exist. You can complete an online medical assessment at the same time as obtaining an online quote or call 132 331 for additional assistance.

  • you have had any complications with this or any previous pregnancy, or
  • the conception was medically assisted.

In all cases where you're aware of your pregnancy before you take out insurance, you will not be covered for:

  • serious pregnancy complications occurring after the 26th week of pregnancy, and
  • childbirth, or the health of a newborn child, no matter what your stage of pregnancy when your child is born.

For this reason, you may wish to consider your travel plans if you are travelling after the 20th week of pregnancy. Please see the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for more information.
