How to apply
Apply in person
You can apply in person for a Rural Bank Everyday Account, Gold Cash Management Account or Term Deposit at a participating Australia Post retail outlet.
Step 1
Check whether there is an Australia Post retail outlet near you that offers Rural Bank products.
Step 2
Bring the following with you to your participating outlet:
- originals of the specific documents required by our staff to verify your identity. Find out which identity documents you'll need to open your Rural Bank account.
- cash or a cheque if you are intending to make an opening deposit. Please note that you can't use EPTPOS to make your deposit. You can, however, make your opening deposit by an electronic fund transfer from another account within a set time period of opening your account.
- your tax file number, if you are planning to provide it at the time of opening your account. *
Step 3
Complete your Personal Account Application Form - this form is in Rural Bank's Personal Banking brochure, which is available at your participating Australia Post retail outlet.
Step 4
Take your form and identity documentation to the counter. If you are making an opening deposit, have your cash or cheque ready. Our staff will check all your details and send your application to Rural Bank.
Rural Bank will then open your new account and advise of your new account details generally within 1 business day. If you have requested a Visa Debit card or cheque book, these will be delivered to you within 7 to 10 working days.
