Carded parcels
We make every attempt to deliver your parcel personally and where requested, obtain a signature for the delivery. Sometimes when no one is at home to accept the parcel you may receive a card in your mail box letting you know you have an item for collection.
I have received a card - what does it mean?
A card may be left under your door or in your mail box for two reasons - to inform you of a safe drop or that a signature was needed to enable us to deliver your parcel.
Signature delivery
When you are not there to receive a parcel and a signature is requested as part of the service requirements, for example the parcel is being sent using our Registered Post service, the delivery driver will leave a card letting you know at which post office the parcel has been transferred to.
Safe Drop
Where there is no delivery instruction and a signature is not required, the delivery driver will look for a safe location, such as inside your car port, to leave your parcel. A notification card will then be dropped in your letter box letting you know where you can find your parcel.
What do I do with my card?
When you are ready to collect your parcel, simply take your card, proof of identity with signature and proof of address along to the specified post office within its opening times and you will be able to collect your parcel. If you are collecting a parcel on behalf of someone else, the agent authorisation on the card must be completed.
Did you know?
You can ask for your parcel to be transferred to a convenient location for example, a carded parcel for a Northcote post office can be transferred to a general post office in the CBD. A $5.50 fee will apply to each parcel transferred and will be payable on collection.
