  • How do I buy an American Express GlobalTravel Card?

    Buy an American Express GlobalTravel Card at any participating Australia Post retail outlet. You need to be over 18, and you need to provide both primary and secondary ID.

    You can pay for your card by cash or EFTPOS3 and funds will be available within 24 hours of activation.

  • What proof of ID will I need?

    Bring two forms of ID with you - one primary ID and one secondary ID. At least one of the IDs must have a valid current address. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. The acceptable forms of ID are listed in the table below:

  • How do I activate my American Express GlobalTravel Card?

    Before you use your card, you need to activate it. The business day after you buy your card, call American Express after midday (AEST) on 1800 053 420 (within Australia). You only need to activate your primary card.

  • How do I reload my American Express GlobalTravel Card?

    You can top-up your travel money at anytime and anywhere by reloading your Card online. You will need to pay for your order via BPAY®.

    You can also reload your American Express GlobalTravel Card at any participating Australia Post retail outlet. Bring your card and Australian driver's licence (or another form of primary and secondary ID) into the store. You can pay in-store using cash or EFTPOS3 and funds will be available on your card after midday (AEST) the following business day.

  • Are there any limits to my foreign currency transaction?

    You can load the following minimum and maximum amounts onto your American Express GlobalTravel Card at participating Australia Post retail outlets.
