Our standard Parcel Post delivery service can be used in conjunction with additional services depending on your requirements.

When you are sending valuable or important parcels, Registered Post provides proof of posting and proof of delivery

Left your belongings at a friend's house? Don't make them pay for returning it to you, use our Cash on Delivery service - you pay for its return when you collect it from the post office.

Tracking is available for regular large parcels that are lodged over the counter at Australia Post retail outlets. Alternatively, you can use the Click and Send portal to prepare your parcels online and choose either the Tracking or Tracking with Signature service.

Registered Post

If you are sending valuable or important parcels within Australia or internationally, Registered Post gives you an added level of security.

Benefits of using Registered Post

Registered Post gives you:

  • proof that the article was sent (when lodged at an Australia Post retail outlet counter)
  • proof that the article was received - a signature is obtained on delivery
  • compensation for loss or damage of the article up to $100 for a standard registered delivery.

Optional services (additional fees apply):

  • Delivery confirmation - we can return a card to you with the recipient's signature.
  • Person-to-person delivery* - your mail will only be delivered to the addressee (only available within Australia).
  • Extra Cover up to $5,000 (only available within Australia).

Please note: All Registered Post articles must be lodged over the counter at an Australia Post retail outlet for proof of posting. If they are posted in gold or street posting boxes they will not have proof of posting and may be subject to delays.

Costs

Our Registered Post service is priced from $3.05 and depends on the type of service you require. Significant discounts are available for purchasing prepaid envelopes, labels and international padded bags.

*Person-to-person article will be delivered to the addressee, except where:

  • the addressee is a minor. The article may be delivered to a parent or guardian.
  • the addressee has provided a prior written authority requesting articles be delivered to a nominated person.
  • it is impractical for Australia Post to deliver to the addressee - this is at Australia Post's discretion.

Cash on Delivery

We offer a safe and reliable Cash on Delivery service that allows the recipient to pay for the delivery of your parcel, any associated fees and where appropriate, for the item itself.

Cash on Delivery offers payment flexibility for customers purchasing goods when they have no other payment options or don't feel comfortable with other forms of transaction payments.

Cash on Delivery gives you the flexibility to:

  • purchase goods when you don't have other payment options or aren't comfortable with other forms of payments, such as paying by credit card
  • pay for the return of personal affects that you may have left somewhere and want returned at no cost to the sender.

How it works

A Cash on Delivery item can be lodged at your nearest Australia Post retail outlet. To find your nearest outlet, use our Post Office Locator.

The article will be delivered to the recipient's nearest postal outlet and they will be informed there is a Cash on Delivery item awaiting collection.

The recipient will then need to make payment to pick up the article. Any money collected on behalf of the sender will be sent back to the sender using a Money Order.

Online tracking

Regular large parcel with tracking

Tracking is available for regular large parcels that are lodged over the counter at an Australia Post retail outlet. The service is available on all domestic regular parcels over 500gms, including 3kg Parcel Post satchels and Prepaid Parcel Post satchels.

For an additional $1.50, your parcel will be tagged with a unique identification number that will allow you to track your delivery online at auspost.com.au/track.

Click and Send tracking service

All parcel post items prepared through Click and Send will have a unique identification number and barcode printed on their address label which will allow you to track your delivery online. Scan events will typically be captured at lodgement, and throughout the delivery process and can be viewed online at auspost.com.au/track allowing you to track the progress of your item.

For greater security and peace of mind you can also request Australia Post obtain a signature on delivery.
