How it works
Mail Hold is a great way to keep your mail from building up in your letterbox when you’re holidaying, taking an extended break or putting work on pause for a bit.
While active, your letters and parcels will be securely stored by Australia Post. When your Mail Hold service ends, your mail will be delivered as addressed – the next business day or as soon as possible.
- Hold eligible letters and parcels from 1 week to 12 months.
- Add up to 6 names on your application (e.g. those you live with, your business’ other trading names, your legal name before marriage).
- Extend your service, change or cancel at any time.
Personal Mail Hold is perfect if you’re going away and don’t run a registered business, Self-managed Super Fund or trust from home, or have a concession card.

If you operate a home business, trust or Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) from home, you may be eligible for a reduced fee on your Mail Hold service.
Apply at the Post Office with your proof of ID and:
- For a home office business: a business certificate statement or tax statement.
- For a trust (individual or company trust): a trust statement with your mailing address.
- For a self-managed super fund: an SMSF statement with your residential mailing address.

Place your business, company, charity, organisation, not-for-profit (NFP), school or institution mail on hold by visiting the Post Office with proof of ID and proof of eligibility.

Business proof of eligibility
The person submitting the form must be an authorised person (such as a managing partner, company secretary, trustee or office holder) or a person acting as an agent.
When you visit the Post Office, please provide proof of ID and:
- Written authorisation to act on behalf of the business or organisation: must be on official letterhead and include the full name and residential address of the person submitting the form and be signed by an authorized person of the business or organisation
- For a business: an original or certified copy of the Business Registration Certificate
- For a club or association: certified minutes of the Annual General Meeting appointing the office-holders
- For a company or trustee: apply the company seal next to the signature on the form.
