This year Australia Post is running an exciting Letter Link competition just for teachers, and there are some great prizes. The competition opens on Monday July 19, 2010 and closes on Friday October 1, 2010.

How to enterHow to enter

  1. Simply complete the official Letter Link teacher competition entry form, found below, or on page six of the eight-page Letter Link resource, in the education resource pack.
  2. Answer the question, "Why is it important for your students to know how to write a letter?" Express your answer in no more than 250 words using any style of writing (including poetry), or in illustrative form. The answer can be written on the official competition entry form, or attach the answer to the entry form using a separate sheet of paper (no larger than A4).
  3. Send your competition entry using the Reply Paid envelope enclosed in the education pack or mail to:

Entries will be grouped into five state / territory categories: QLD, NSW / ACT, VIC / TAS, SA / NT and WA for judging. Three entries from each category, deemed to be the best responses to the question, and most creative will be chosen. From these state / territory winners, three national winners will also be selected.

The prizesThe prizes

  • Three winning teachers from each state / territory category will receive a $100 Australia Post teacher prize pack, containing a great selection of classroom stationary items (15 prizes in total).
  • From the state / territory winners, three national winners will then be selected. The fantastic national prizes are as follows:

    1st Prize -
    $3,000 for the winner's school to spend on resources of their choice (eg computers or sports equipment) and a school visit from Jessicah Schipper (subject to availability).
    2nd Prize -
    $2,000 for the winner's school.
    3rd Prize -
    $1,000 for the winner's school.
